Bill Clinton to Hood River
On Saturday, for whatever reason, I spent the day primarily indoors. Went for a run, got the mail, and did a Taco Bell run at about 11pm, but otherwise, it was a blogging/xbox/lazy day for me.
There’s not a lot of weekend days that I spend doing as much nothing as Saturday. How is it that the one day I choose to do nothing is the day I shouldn’t have?
Bill Clinton himself visited Hood River on Saturday, and on a normal day I would have seen something going on downtown and made it a point to investigate. But this wasn’t a normal day, this was lazy day.
I hadn’t heard about the visit, had no clue it was going on. Who knows how much warning there was that it would happen. Either way, I missed it, and normally wouldn’t have.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a fan, but still have enough respect for an ex-pres to show up when he’s in the area. My friend Tim, when I mentioned it this morning didn’t know either. (I found out on Sunday afternoon) Tim was rather disappointed as well, wishing he could have been present to offer some “tough questions”. Granted, Clinton has been getting in some shouting matches lately, but I said, “yeah right, as if a Clinton would ever answer a hard question.”
If my senses serve me, I’d say Clinton, however, was for the most part, wasting his time. This is Obama country, so they say… Well, except for the feeble old senile lady I met at a church three months ago who was ecstatic to have a “mother in the whitehouse”.
As for me, I’m no friend of any of the three candidates. Don’t get me started. But I would have enough respect/general curiosity/mob mentality to go and see any candidate or high profile representative that came to a city near me.
And whats even sillier about all this is that I also come to find out that Obama was in Portland at the same time, in the midst of drawing the largest crowd yet. What did I say? Obama Country. Its a sad world..

It’s a “Happy World” Amos, you should thank the lord we only have Clinton and Obama to choose from, it could be a lot worse.
Yay for moving to Obama country. I’m going to take an absentee ballot for the election rather than voting in Washington. I know for sure that my vote will count more if it has Colorado on the top of the voting card…
Crazy!!! I think I’m just going to put your name on the ballet.
gosh amos, i thought maybe it was someone important =P
while i cannot give an out-right endorsement; i’m not a terribly big fan of the three major candidates either.
as for missing out on the former prez- well i doubt he missed you…wink….
thanks for commenting on my page by the way, i love discussion.
