Why Am I In Oakland
Well, because for some reason Southwest Airlines determined that it is half way between Denver and Portland. They should take geography class again.
I would, however, like to thank Southwest for their sense of humor. If you’ve never been to the Oakland airport, you should know that at least one runway approach (the one we took) is over water right up until the moment you touch down. How’s that for a sense of adventure when all you’ve got is a view straight out the side of the aircraft seeing the bay getting closer and closer.. My favorite part though was the flight attendant’s response once we landed with, “whew, we made it!” and his later remarks stating that this flight was an Oakland based flight and wouldn’t be continuing on to another destination. His addition to this was that if our final destination (as passengers) was somewhere other than Oakland, he didn’t care if it was via another carrier or not. It was funny when he said it.

I’d also like to gripe a bit. Though Oakland has these handy-dandy little computer tables which even include usb power jacks (for Ipods, I’m assuming), due to broken moving sidewalks, I was lucky enough to get to walk between the two gates (for connecting flights) on absolute opposite ends of the terminal. Something like 4 miles. Oh, and thanks a lot for not-free internet, Oakland.

yeah i ran into the same problems in orange county. no free internet. portland is moving up my list of good airports. i just don’t have problems there but i do everywhere else and i get free internet in the whole airport.
